Huijie (Jessie) Zhao, Artist, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Fine Arts.
Ms. Zhao’s artwork explores how observers see through light, color and shadow. She works from direct observational experience and adjusts the work from memory, perceiving and recording the perceptual world, combining memory and sensation, invention and observation. It is a continual combination of both intuitive and rational decision-making that informs works featuring seascapes, figurative subjects, Venice, streetscapes, and still life. In addition to numerous awards in Taiwan and Australia, Ms. Zhao is featured in Who’s Who of American Women, and is the current vice president of the Beijing Da You Qian Jing Painting and Calligraphy Institute in China as well as director of HZ International Fine Arts LLC.
Born in Shanghai, China to Hongbin Zhao and Meijun Gu, Ms. Zhao studied with the Monash University in Australia to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2002. She went on to earn an MFA the next year at RMIT University in Australia, and has worked ever since as a freelance artist. In 2016, Ms. Zhao was part of the 36th International Painting and Drawing Exhibition at the Korea Gyeongbokgung Royal Palace, and her work has been included with the Five Anniversary Spring Art Auction of the Zhejiang Longan Auction Co. in 2016. Her work has been shown in New York, New Jersey, Georgia, New Mexico, and of course in Australia and China.
Ms. Zhao has won numerous awards, including four First Prizes and a Gold Metal in Australian art competitions. She was a finalist in 2005 and 2006 for the Portia Geach Memorial Award, and in 2006 for the Metro 5 Award. Ms. Zhao won the 2006 First Prize “People’s Choice Award” from Australia Amnesty International Freedom and a 2006 “People’s Choice Award” Salon De Refuse exhibited in Crown Casino. Her work was published in a Taiwan high school fine art text book in 2007. Ms. Zhao’s work resides in the private galleries of numerous prestigious collectors, including celebrity Tony Jones, host of ABC’s ‘Nightline’ late-night news. In her free time, Ms. Zhao enjoys dance and travel.
