Marjorie Anne Flory, Writer, Editor, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Journalism.
Ms. Flory has been a freelance writer for publications in New York, New York since 1985, and was previously a senior editor of the legacy publication Reader’s Digest. Her father was a journalist, which sparked her initial interest in journalism, reading, and writing. Ms. Flory has accrued an impressive portfolio over the years, and was the co-author of “Reel Life/Real Life” as well as copy editor of “Made in Italy” and editor of “More Cooking With Pecans” from 2003 to 2010. She is a Marquis Who’s Who Industry Expert and a recipient of the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award, featured in Who’s Who of American Women, Who’s Who in the World, and Who’s Who in America.
Born to Harry Russell and Florence Gilman Flory, Ms. Flory attended Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, and conducted postgraduate work at Columbia University. She worked as a library assistant with the French Embassy Cultural Services in New York, and in 1953 she joined the Reader’s Digest offices as a researcher. In 1960, Ms. Flory was appointed associate editor with the company in Pleasantville, New York, and in 1980 she returned to New York City as senior editor of the firm. From 1993 to 2010, Ms. Flory served as an editor with Fourth Write Press in Shelburne, Vermont.
Ms. Flory has earned her success with interest in her subject and being a quick study. Since 1998, she has also given her time as an interpreter of the New York Road Runners Club, and from 1980 to 1985 she worked as a volunteer tutor for Volunteer Services for Children in New York City. Ms. Flory held a seat on the board of the Smith College Club in New York, and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. In her free time, she enjoys travel, tennis, language study, and choral singing.
