Steven Arthur Cohen, Writer and Flight Attendant with United Airlines, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Literary Arts.

In the ‘80s, Mr. Cohen sold everything and moved to Amsterdam, where he lived and worked for several years. After returning to the U.S. and becoming a flight attendant, he has relished the profession for the last 17 years. In Amsterdam, Mr. Cohen learned he didn’t have to prove anything to anyone, and has since found success as both a writer and a flight attendant. He is very proud of his work on texts for the exhibition catalog, “Anne Frank in the World: 1929-1945,” which he presented to Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg after a chance meeting on a United Airlines flight. Justice Ginsburg reciprocated the gesture with a personal reply. Mr. Cohen has also donated money he could have made from a special glass case for the original diary of Anne Frank.

Mr. Cohen was named a Marquis Who’s Who Industry Leader in 2017, and is a recipient of the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award featured in Who’s Who in America and numerous volumes of Who’s Who in the World. He started life in Wichita, Kansas, as the son of William and Celia Cohen. After earning a BS in journalism from the University of Kansas, he worked as a reporter in Wichita and Hollywood before becoming a communications consultant in Phoenix, Arizona. Mr. Cohen served as an editor for the Salt River Project Public Utility in Phoenix from 1979 to 1981 before deciding to pick up everything and leave for the Netherlands. He was also a scriptwriter for the Fiesta Bowl Parade in Phoenix from 1978 to 1980.

Since returning stateside, Mr. Cohen graduated from Leadership Fairfax in 2009, and continued to write for the company he started in the Netherlands, Steven Arthur Cohen Communications. He was a newsletter columnist for the American Chamber of Commerce in the Netherlands from 1989 to 2001, and has also contributed to Phoenix television, the Commercial Anglo Dutch Society, and Green Cross International, among numerous civic roles. Notably, he is a lifetime member of the KU Alumni Association and a former Phoenix chapter president of the organization. In his free time, Mr. Cohen enjoys swimming, travel, and education.
