Joan Mercado, Singer, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in community and symphony choirs.
For more than six decades, Ms. Mercado has been gracing stages and filling the world with beautiful music as a member of several choirs. Whenever she has moved to a new location, one of the first things she does is look up the local choirs and community choruses. Singing is a great passion for Ms. Mercado, and she has instilled this passion in her daughter, Diana, and grandson, Robert. Together, the trio have sang with the New Dominion Choraliers, proving that the love of music is a family affair. When not singing, Ms. Mercado enjoys spending time with her family, with include her daughters Diana and Renita, and grandchildren Alex, Robert, Elena, Jack and Olivia.
Ms. Mercado earned a secretarial degree from the Moravian College for Women (now Moravian College) in 1954. The two-year school instilled in her the skills to work as a legal secretary. Her success in this career was largely due to her ability to complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner. From 2014 to 2016, Ms. Mercado served as the President of the Houston Tuesday Musical Club. She also held various executive positions with the chorus while she lived in Texas. Currently, she is involved with two choruses, the New Dominion Choraliers and her retirement community’s chorus.
