Michael G. Cunningham, MusD, Composer, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of music.
An esteemed figure in the musical industry, Dr. Cunningham has amassed more than 40 years of professional excellence in his areas of expertise. A former professor of music theory and composition at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire for 33 years, he previously served as an assistant professor at the Conservatory of Music at the University of the Pacific, lecturer in music theory at the School of Fine Arts at the University of Kansas, and teaching assistant at the Indiana University School of Music. Dr. Cunningham commenced his career as an instructor in the music department and accompanist and music director of the dance department at Wayne State University.
Earning a Bachelor of Music from Wayne State University, a Master of Music from University of Michigan, and a Doctor of Music at Indiana University, Dr. Cunningham is a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) and the Wisconsin Alliance for Composers. He has conducted and performed music for a number of works, including the CDs “Mezzanine Seat” and “Sonic Flight.” He has additionally authored several books, including “Written Music Ideation,” “Jazz Improvisation” and “Hello to Classical Music.” Dr. Cunningham has further composed numerous compositions and orchestral music.
In recognition of his exceptional accomplishments, Dr. Cunningham has been awarded the Annual Stipend from the ASCAP since 1969. In addition, he has been selected for inclusion into several editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Entertainment, Who’s Who in the Midwest and Who’s Who in the World.
