Martha Holthausen, Artist, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in painting and interior design.
A longtime member of the Working Artists Forum, Ms. Holthausen has become known for her skill in oil and watercolor painting, interior design, and fashion. She started her journey by earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts from The Ohio State University in 1956, and by garnering experience as a fashion illustrator with The Marston Company from 1956 to 1957 and The E.C. Higbee Company from 1957 to 1958. At that time, Ms. Holthausen decided to share her passion with the younger generations by taking positions as an art instructor with Lakewood Public Schools and as a teacher at Princes George’s County Public Schools. She switched paths again in 1975, when she became an account executive with Stansbury Designs, Inc. She proceeded to serve as an interior designer with Berwin Interiors and W. & J. Sloane, Inc., and as the president and interior designer of Martha Allensworth Interior Design, Inc. To further her professional standing, she completed postgraduate coursework at Baldwin Wallace University and the Mount Vernon Campus of The George Washington University.
One of the highlights of Ms. Holthausen’s career was being invited to be a guest artist-in-residence at Yosemite National Park by the National Park Service. She is also proud that her landscape and portrait paintings are represented in private collections. Ms. Holthausen kept in touch with her peers and community through positions on the board of directors of the Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce and as the vice president of the Montgomery Art Association. As a testament to her efforts, she was featured in various editions of Who’s Who in America.
