Kathleen Sidwell, Artist, Gallery Owner, and Director at The Studio on Slough Road, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in art.
Inspired to enter the realm of art from a young age, Ms. Sidwell was the director and owner of The Studio on Slough Road in Brewster, MA, in 2004. In addition, she lent her time and expertise to the Cape Cod Museum of Art as a printmaking teacher from 2009 to 2013 and to St. Charles Parish High Schools and Middle Schools as a gifted art teacher from 1994 to 1995. To prepare for her fulfilling career, she attended the University of Colorado Boulder, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in history and philosophy in 1968. After obtaining some hands-on experience in the field, she completed additional coursework in printmaking and sculpture at Southern Methodist University in 1980. In 1991, she attended Berkshire School of Contemporary Art, where she studied monotypes, video, and installation art.
Certified in public art by Bellevue Community College, Ms. Sidwell has also participated in a number of civic engagements in such roles as a mentor and trustee of the Cape Cod Museum of Art from 2008 to 2018 ,a board member of Printmakers of Cape Cod from 2006 to 2007, and a director and curator of Scattered Ephemera in 2004 in Tacoma, Washington. she participated as builder, chef, and clothing manager for Habitat for Humanity International . She also volunteered in Nicaragua With Enterprise International as guest under Chaz Seale Ms. Sidwell has also been the director and curator of Collaborative Installation and Performance from 2003 to 2004 under Amy McBride director of Public Art. She helped set up the printmaking educational program at the of the Cape Cod Museum of Art, before joining the Board of Trustees.
Ms. Sidwell has exhibited her abstract artwork in both national and international galleries. Her most notable works include the exhibit “Ocean: US,” where she gathered trash from the beach and molded it into art in an effort to raise awareness of recycling to preserve the oceans. A leading voice in the art industry, she maintains affiliation with the Printmakers of Cape Cod, the Cape Cod Museum of Art, and the Cape Cod Theater Coalition where she is considered an honorary member. In recognition of her exceptional contributions to art, she has been listed in the 69th and 69th editions of Who’s Who in America and the 12th edition of Who’s Who in Science and Engineering. She is represented by Miller White Fine Arts with galleriest Susan Danton in Dennis Ma on Cape Cod.
