Nathalie J. Nordstrand, Owner at Nordstrand Gallery, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in oil painting.
The owner of Nordstrand Gallery for 29 years, Ms. Nordstrand amassed more than 40 years of professional excellence in the art world prior to her retirement in 1999. Previously, she worked as a clerk corporate director at Johnson Brothers Greenhouses, Inc., from 1958 to 1984 and a research associate at Gerontology Age Center of New England from 1955 to 1964.
To prepare for her celebrated career, Ms. Nordstrand pursued a formal education at Bradford College, earning an Associate of Arts in 1952. She subsequently earned two Bachelor of Arts in 1954, one from Barnard College and one from Columbia University. Interested in art after attending Barnard College, she completed coursework with Jay Connaway, Don Stone, Roger Curtis, Paul Strisik, and Emile Gruppe to hone her painting skills. Ms. Nordstrand has been a featured artist in several galleries across the United States and abroad, with her work exhibited in The Reading Public Library Foundation, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Laura Knott Art Gallery at Bradford College, and the American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong.
In recognition of her exceptional contributions to the art world, Ms. Nordstrand has been the recipient of countless Regional Competition Awards since 1960, as well as an honorary lifetime member grant from the Concord Center for the Visual Arts in 2012. In addition, she received a myriad of awards from the Salmagundi Club and was the recipient of gold medals from Allied Artists of America and The American Artists Professional League, where she remains a fellow. Notably, she was the first woman artist to have a painting admitted to the Salmagundi Club in New York City.
