Bettye J. Reagan, Artist, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of art.
Ms. Reagan has always loved to paint and draw from an early age, having formerly taken art classes from a teacher who would come to her town every six weeks. Taking art classes at Arrowment Arts and Crafts School and Seminole State College, she began hosting shows and completed commission-based work. After dabbling in oil painting, she met with a pastel artist who taught her how to work with pastels. She has since fallen in love with the medium, having specialized in pastel painting for numerous years.
Ms. Reagan has had her work exhibited in solo shows at the Steinway Piano Gallery, the Hope Barton Fine Arts Gallery, the Ormond Memorial Art Museum, the G. Sander Fine Art Gallery and the Artist Hand Gallery. She has also been featured in several group shows, including the Heathrow Festival of the Arts, the Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival, the St. Johns River Art Festival and the Maitland Rotary Art Festival. The former co-chairman of the First Street Gallery in 1986, she has also maintained affiliation with the Pastel Society of America, the Portrait Society of America, and the Sanford Seminole Chamber of Commerce, where she was chairman of the cultural arts committee.
As a testament to her professional success, Ms. Reagan has accrued numerous accolades throughout her career. Honored for contributions to the community by the Lake Mary Historical Society in 2017, she won the Seminole County Artist Award in 2017 and a Certificate of Recognition for Leadership and Role Model from the Florida House of Representatives in 2001. Winning an Award of Distinction at the Deland Fall Festival of Art in 1995, she placed in first at the Beaux Arts 45th Annual Festival of Art in 1996 and second place at the Maitland Art Festival in 1995. She was also a poster artist at five different Florida art festivals between 1991 and 2002. Notably, she has been selected for inclusion in several editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who of American Women.
