Thomas A. Nicholas has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in landscape art.
Since 1965, Mr. Nicholas has displayed and sold his art through his gallery. As an artist, he stands out with his distinctive interpretations. In his career, he feels that the key to his success has been his determination. This success includes numerous accolades such as participating in competitions and receiving awards and recognition for his work. These honors include receiving 41 medals of honor throughout 1962 and 2013. In 1966, 1969, 1976, 1985, 1999, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2007, Mr. Nichols received the Gold Medal of Honor from the Rockport Art Association. He has also received such accolades as the Davis Memorial Award in Watercolors, the Bohnert Memorial Award for Oils, the Gouache Award in Transparent Watercolor, the Cooley Award in Graphics and the DuMond Memorial Award among many others.
Certain from an early age that a paintbrush belonged in his hand, Mr. Nicholas studied at the School of Visual Arts and under Ernst Lohrmann. He has also refined his career with various memberships that have aided in professional development. Since 1994, she has been the Eastern Vice President of the American Watercolor Society. Since 1970, he has been an Academician with the National Academy Museum. He is also a Dolphin Fellow of the American Watercolor Society. Furthermore, he has maintained affiliation with the Boston Watercolor Society, the Connecticut Watercolor Society, the Allied Artists of America, Knickerbocker Artists, the Guild of Boston Artists, the Rockport Art Association, the Hudson Valley Art Association and Hudson Valley Artists.
