Interested in art from an early age, Mr. Jones pursued his dream and cultivated his talent. His neighbor, an art professor, saw a young Mr. Jones’ potential and encouraged to pursue art, dream big, and make those dreams a reality. Mr. Jones took this advice and studied art professionally at the University of Illinois at Chicago and Urbana from 1956 to 1957. He earned diplomas from the American Academy Art in Chicago and from the School of Visual Arts in New York City before being drafted in the United States Army. Mr. Jones served from 1962 to 1964 in Germany and was honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant. Once back in civilian life, Mr. Jones launched himself into the world of art and worked at various organizations in New York City. He worked as an assistant and associate art director for Batten, Barton Durstine & Osborn, Inc., the art director of the J. Walter Thompson Co., president of Jones, James & Jameson, Inc., and art director of Fuller, Smith & Ross, Inc., before relocating to his native Chicago.

Back in the Windy City, Mr. Jones established Richmond A. Jones Graphics in 1970. He has been the owner, communications executive, and artist for his company since its inception and is proud of his hard work. Mr. Jones’ art has been featured in galleries nationwide and his watercolor paintings have won awards from societies across the nation. In 2009, the special collections department at the Richard J. Daly Library at the University of Illinois in Chicago accepted 30 years’ worth Mr. Jones’ graphic design work into the collection, an accomplishment that delighted Mr. Jones.
