Mr. Richardson Rountree chose his career path after friends of his in Washington, D.C., asked him to move there. When he arrived in Washington D.C., he was inspired and fell in love with the town and city. He was young and being surrounded by monuments motivated him to do something meaningful. This led him to various offices and he enjoyed each of his jobs. Before venturing onto his career, Mr. Richardson Rountree was a student at Ringling College of Art and Designs in Sarasota, Florida, where he took classes in graphic arts and advertising. From there, he became the president of the Rountree Printing and Advertising Company from 1959 to 1963.
In 1963, Mr. Richardson Rountree moved to Washington D.C. to join his friends. He found a job as an assistant executive vice president and statistician at the Institute of Shortening & Edible Oils in 1963 and remained there until 1965 when he became an assistant executive vice president of the Automotive Trade Association. In 1968, he moved on to executive director of D&P, Incorporated and stayed there until 1972. This led him to The Hereditary Register of the United States of America, where Mr. Richardson Roundtree was the president, publisher and chairman of the board of directors from 1972 to 1976. In 1976, he moved back to Florida and landed a permeant spot at St. John’s Printing and Office Supply, Incorporated, in Saint Augustine, Florida where he stayed until he retired. Mr. Richardson Rountree also spent time in the United States Army in the field artillery division.
In recognition of Mr. Richardson Rountree’s hard work, he has received myriad accolades including being named Man of the Year by the St. Augustine Yacht Club in 1990, receiving the Honorary Silver State Plenipotentiary from Governor O’ Callaghan of Nevada in 1973, being named Distinguished Hooser by the Governor of Indiana in 1973 and being named Honorary Citizen by the state of West Virginia and Texas, among various other awards. Mr. Richardson Rountree has also been inducted into many associations including, the National Society of Sons and Daughters of Antebellum Planters, the National Society of Americans of Royal Descent, the Order of Americans of Armorial Ancestry, the National Society of Sons and Daughters of the Pilgrims, the Society of the Descendants of the Colonial Clergy and the National Huguenot Society to name a few. Furthermore, he has been included in multiple editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest and Who’s Who in the World.
