Louis H. Schaeffer, Executive Producer at Springfield Contemporary Theatre Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in theater production.

From 1966 to 1969, Mr. Schaeffer worked as the tech director for Springfield Little Theater. In 1969, he earned a Bachelor of Arts from Missouri State University, formerly known as Southwest Missouri State University, after which he worked as a lighting designer at Virginia Museum Theater until 1970. He then returned to Springfield Little Theater as an executive producer, where he remained until 1973. Continuing to build his professional experience, Mr. Schaeffer transitioned to a role at the New Electric Dinner Theater, where he worked as a production manager and designer until 1976. Afterward, he decided to continue his education in order to build his expertise and bolster his skills in theater production, and he earned a Master of Arts from Missouri State University in 1978.

After earning an MA, Mr. Schaeffer returned to stage production, serving as designer for the Springfield Ballet. He achieved great success here, taking on the additional role of executive director in 1984. He remained in this position until 1995, when he became the executive producer for the Springfield Contemporary Theatre (SCT), a non-profit community theater. Mr. Schaeffer worked to renovate the historical Vandivort Center Theater, which eventually became the SCT, and he continues to work there as an executive producer. He was awarded the Ozzie Award by the Springfield Area Arts Council in 2001 and plans to continue his work in theater production, citing his love for the field and his love of working with people as primary inspirations for his continued success. As a testament to his experience and stature, Mr. Schaeffer was a featured listee in multiple editions of Who’s Who in Entertainment, and as a further honor, he was recognized as an Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement awardee in 2019.
