Carlisle Ferris, President, Artist at Keith Ferris Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of Air Force Art.

Mr. Ferris grew up near an Air Force flight line in Kelly Field, Texas, and his father served as a U.S. Air Force Officer from 1925 to 1955. Though he did not serve in the Air Force, Mr. Ferris’ interest in aviation inspired his art and he honed his abilities under the guidance of Budd Dallmann, the art director at Texas A&M University, and while working as the production manager at Castelle Watkins Paul Studio. Mr. Ferris was inducted into the Society of Illustrators in New York in 1960, the same year he received a call from the Air Force to fly to Massachusetts for an Air Force art trip. Thrilled his dreams were taking off, Mr. Ferris flew with Air Force as a civilian, documenting Air Force mission with his paintings that depict jet fighter and airlift operations worldwide. In the midst of accompanying the Air Force on missions, Mr. Ferris and his wife, Margaret Jo Todd, established Keith Ferris Inc. in the 1980s with four other talented artists.

Though he recently finished his final painting for the Super Sabre Society that features an F-100 airplane from an event in 1968, Mr. Ferris remains active in the artistic world. He is a lecturer and motivational speaker in aviation history, often speaking to members of the Air Force and Naval Aviation Units as well as College Air Force ROTC Units. Mr. Ferris holds five U.S. patents for the invention of deceptive air combat camouflage systems, is the founder of the American Society of Aviation Artists, is the recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Air Force Association, and is an honorary member of US Air Force Thunderbirds Flight Demonstration Team. His work is represented in and Jet Aviation Gallery of Murals at the National Air & Space Museum within the Smithsonian Institution and is a part of the permanent collection of the US Air Force Museum. As a further testament to his success, Mr. Ferris has been featured in the 62nd and 63rd editions of Who’s Who in America.
