Will Chubb, Photographer and Owner at Will Chubb Photography, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of artistic photography.
Mr. Chubb studied at the ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, California, and earned a Bachelor of Arts, with honors, in 1968. After his graduation, he founded his own photography company, Will Chubb Photography, where he has worked for more than 50 years. At the same time, he started working as a photographer and cinematographer at Patterson & Hall Design Group, where he would remain until 1972 when he took a position as photographer and firefighter for the City of San Rafael Fire Department. Mr. Chubb worked for the fire department until 2001, and as a firefighter, he worked 10 days each month, 24 hours each day, which freed him to pursue his photography career in the meantime.
Mr. Chubb has additionally spent time working as a volunteer photographer at the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and as a volunteer builder and photographer at Habitat for Humanity. Originally, however, he wanted to become a physicist. He reconsidered his decision, and went on a trip to Mexico with two of his friends, weighing his options and thinking about his career path. Reluctantly, he had taken a camera with him, given to him by his father, and when he was sitting on the veranda of his lodging watching the sunset, there were several glass balls which distorted and refracted the light. Mr. Chubb was fascinated and studied the light coming through the glass, taking pictures. When he returned home, he had found his calling. He believes that photographers do not take pictures—they make them. In the coming years, he plans to teach online classes in creativity.
