Simone Yehuda, Professor, Poet, Playwright, and Screenwriter, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership as an artist.
As a student, Dr. Yehuda attended the Universite de Lausanne in Switzerland, earning a Certificat d’Etudes Francaises in 1962, and studied American literature at Bennington College, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in 1965. She continued her education at Columbia University, where she earned a Master of Arts in English and comparative literature in 1967. In 1973, Dr. Yehuda started as an English professor at Siena Heights University, where she worked for nearly 40 years, until 2011, when she took on the title of professor emeritus. From 1985 to 1988, she worked as the artistic director for the Young People’s Theater, and from 1986 to 1990, she worked as the artistic director for Ann Arbor Repertory Theatre. She has published multiple books of poetry, entitled “Thaw” and “Lifting Water,” and is currently working on a new project entitled “Pieces of Thunder.”
Dr. Yehuda returned to her education, and in 1998, she earned a PhD in comparative literature and creative writing from the Union Institute. In the past eight years, she has worked on screenplays to further her writing skills, and in 2015, she earned a Master Screenwriting Certificate from Screenwriting University. She is an associate of the Modern Language Association, Dramatists Guild, and Screenwriters Guild West, and in the coming years, she is aiming to sell a screenplay. Dr. Yehuda has been recognized with myriad awards, including receiving the Creative Artist Award from the Michigan Council for the Arts, being a Summer Seminar Fellow of the National Endowment for the Humanities, and earning a Dierassi Endowed Fellowship. In 2019, she started working as a professor of French at the University of Michigan, and as a further testament to her success, she was featured in the 61st edition of Who’s Who in America.
