Peter Schneider, Retired Political Scientist, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in political science.

Dr. Schneider’s original interest in journalism eventually lead to his successful career in the political arena. With a penchant for writing, he pursued this interest at Oklahoma State University, becoming the first freshman to land a paying position on the school’s newspaper. During his time at the institution, he worked an internship at the daily Oklahoma City newspaper, became the assistant editor of the Eleven Nine Magazine and advertised for an alumni magazine. It was in his junior year that he realized he needed to add substance and depth to his abilities as a writer and took on the political science major. With this step, he became fully immersed in the field. He earned a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science from Oklahoma State University in 1966 and 1968, respectively and earned a PhD from Indiana University in 1974.

For two years after receiving a PhD, Dr. Schneider taught as an assistant professor at the University of Oregon. His talents were then tapped as the president of the Institute of Policy Analysis, a position he held from 1976 to 1983. He worked briefly at the American Justice Institute, the Center for Assessment of The Juvenile Justice Center and was vice president of the National Partnership before landing at the Pacific Institute for Research and Evaluation where he worked as a senior research scientist from 1984 to 1992. From 1986 to 1989, he also served as the institute’s director of the justice division. From 1992 to 1995, Dr. Schneider provided his expertise to the Institute of Policy Analysis. His most recent position, prior to retiring, was as the CEO of IPA International, Inc and he held this role from 1995 to 2007.

Out of all the work he has contributed to, Dr. Schneider says that his work in the intelligence community has been the most rewarding. In addition, starting his own company and gathering a body of talented and skilled staff for the company another highlight. He comprised a staff of well-educated young adults that received very high security clearances for their work. Supplementing his work, Dr. Schneider maintained affiliation with a variety of organizations, including, the American Political Science Association, the American Restitution Association, Pi Sigma Alpha, Sigma Delta Chi, Phi Kappa Phi, Omicron Delta Kappa and Phi Kappa Theta.
