Douglas L. Lieberman, Instructional Designer, Screenwriter, and Playwright at IBM, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership.
Mr. Lieberman has always had a passion for telling educational stories. This passion has been the deciding factor behind many of his decisions, which have ultimately brought him much success. His ascent into the professional realm began through his attendance at the Art Institute of Chicago, from where he graduated in 1972 with a Master of Fine Arts. Though his degree was in art, Mr. Lieberman found himself teaching in the following years. He was brought onto the staff at both Northwestern University and Loyola University in the 1980s. Outside of education, Mr. Lieberman has worked as a screenwriter for several organizations, including National Geographic and PBS, and has also spent time as a playwright for the Contemporary Children’s Theater. He found that his love of teaching encouraged him to curate educational material for his creative endeavors. He continued to pursue his creative interests with work as an instructional designer for HSBC from 2002 until 2007, and he currently resides at IBM as a thought leader.
Mr. Lieberman has been generously award for his work throughout his career. Some of the honors bestowed on him include an Emmy Award for Outstanding Achievement in a Documentary of Cultural Significance and the Gold Hugo from the Chicago International Film Festival. He has additionally received numerous awards from the Association for Talent Development for his achievements. In 2019, Mr. Lieberman was awarded the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. His success has been highlighted in the 18th and 21st edition of Who’s Who in the World, the 25th edition of Who’s Who in the Midwest, and the 56th edition of Who’s Who in America.
