With more than 20 years of professional experience, Ms. Johnson has been a freelance arts writer and arts reviewer for the “Anne Arundel Section” of the Baltimore Sun since 1997. In addition to her primary role, she served as an arts writer for Patch Media from 2011 to 2012, and she was a reporter and reviewer for the Severna Park Voice from 1998 to 2009. Earlier in her career, she was the associate director of centennial planning and programs at Johns Hopkins University from 1973 to 1977.
Ms. Johnson was inspired to pursue a career in the field from an early age, having always had a passion and enthusiasm for the arts. She pursued an education and was an honor student at Johns Hopkins University, where she later worked. She is a member of the Journalism and Women Symposium, the American Theater Critics Association, and the American Association of University Women. She has also been affiliated with the Annapolis Opera, the Ballet Theater of Maryland, Inc., Live Arts Maryland, the Annapolis Summer Garden Theater, the Compass Rose Theater, and the Metropolitan Opera Guild.
