Michael Larkin, Conductor at Brandywine Pop Orchestra, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in music.

A graduate of the University of Delaware, Mr. Larkin earned a Bachelor of Music in 1973. Soon thereafter, he received a Master of Music from Catholic University in 1975. He concluded his academic efforts with a Doctor of Musical Arts from Temple University in 1985.

At the start of his career, Mr. Larkin taught music at Wesley College, before assuming employment with the Sanford School as the chairman of the music department until 1981. He continued to teach at the Misericordia College and the Music School of Delaware for three decades until 2015. Mr. Larkin also contributed as a director of music for numerous ministries including the 2nd Baptist Church in Wilmington, Delaware, and the White Clay Creek Presbyterian Church. Currently, he serves as the conductor and music director for the Brandywine Pop Orchestra in Wilmington, a position he has held since 2014. Additionally, he has contributed as the director of music ministry with the St. Barnabas Episcopal Church since 2004.

The highlight of Mr. Larkin’s career was conducting mass at St. Mark’s Cathedral in Venice, Italy in 2009. Also, serving as the music director of the New Ark Chorale for 42 years with many concerts and live recordings is an opportunity he holds in high regard in his career. Likewise, he is a respected composer who has published 320 choral, piano, and orchestral compositions. Mr. Larkin is also an author of multiple articles in professional journals and publications in the field. The most difficult challenge in pursuit of his goals has been balancing with his personal responsibilities. For his accomplishments, Mr. Larkin has been the recipient of an award from the International Elsledlel Solo Competition, several ASCAP Awards, and over 30 choral music commissions. Outside of work, he enjoys reading, railroad modeling, personal computing, and golf in his spare time.
