Thomas Curtis, Artist at Curtis Studio, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in portraits.
With 60 years of professional experience, Mr. Curtis has held a private practice as an artist with Curtis Studio since 1985, also serving as a teacher at Brookfield Academy from 1986 to 2009. Prior to obtaining these roles, he was an editorial cartoonist with the Milwaukee Sentinel from 1969 to 1983, and he held a private practice from 1966 to 1969. He is also a military veteran, having served with the United States Army Corps of Engineers from 1960 to 1987, attaining the rank of lieutenant colonel.
Mr. Curtis first pursued an education with Harvard College, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in architecture in 1960. He continued his studies with the Corcoran School of Art, completing coursework in 1966. He then joined the United States Army Command and General Staff College, earning a degree in 1979. He is a member of the Association of American Editorial Cartoonists, the American Society of Portrait Artists, the New York State Society of Cincinnati, the Philadelphia Society, and the Order of the Founders and Patriots of America.
