Nancy Sarisley Costanzo, Art Educator at Elms College, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements and leadership in art education.
Ms. Costanzo has distinguished herself as an artist and arts educator through more than 45 years of service to her students and discipline. Surrounded by the arts while coming of age, she volunteered prolifically with children and led various summer art classes. During a gap year spent traveling throughout the United States, she realized her calling to become an educator and earned a Bachelor of Arts from Central Connecticut State University in 1973. In 1979, Ms. Costanzo was awarded a Master of Education in art education from the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence. She completed a certificate of advanced study in expressive art therapy at the European Graduate School in Leuk, Switzerland, in 1999.
Since 1985, Ms. Costanzo has garnered a laudable reputation as an associate professor of art at Elms College. She was the chair of the school’s Department of Visual and Performing Arts for over 10 years. She also served as the Borgia Gallery director and the director of cultural affairs for many years. She has also been an invited speaker to institutions in Greece, Mexico and China. Furthermore, she is a National Endowment for the Humanities grantee and the recipient of a 1985 Outstanding Arts Educator of Mass Award from the Mass Alliance for Arts Education. Ms. Costanzo was presented with the Who’s Who of American Women and Top Educator Awards.
