Kenneth Batista, Studio Arts Educator at the University of Pittsburgh, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in painting.
Since he was six years old, Mr. Batista has known what he wanted to do with his life. His family and school peers always supported his habit, which eventually became his profession. With a strong interest in the art field, Mr. Batista decided to pursue art in college earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Columbus College of Art and Design in 1975. He then received a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Tyler School of Art at Temple University in 1977. Upon completion of his higher education, Mr. Batista began showing his artwork for numerous exhibitions in 1977 and continued to be featured in exhibitions until 2018.
Alongside being a featured artist, in 1977 Mr. Batista also began his career in education as an instructor for the Kendall College of Art and Design, where he remained for a year. In 1978, he began his career at the University of Pittsburgh, where he remains to this day. Mr. Batista started out as an assistant professor and rose through the ranks to associate professor for the Department of Studio Arts, a position he is still in currently. He also held the titles of department chair, chairman, major advisor for the Department of Studio Arts and assistant dean for undergraduate studies for the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences.
As a testament to his success, Mr. Batista has received numerous awards including but not limited to a Juror’s Award from the Waterloo Arts Juried Competition in 2019, Waterloo Board of Directors Award for painting from the Waterloo Arts Juried Competition in 2019 and an Outstanding Alumni Award from Columbus College of Art and Design in 1989. He is also listed in the 4th edition of Who’s Who in American Education and the 24th edition of Who’s Who in the East.
