Fabian Perez, Professional Artist at the La Herreria Art Studio, LLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in painting and sculpture.
A native of Buenos Aires, Argentina, Mr. Perez was influenced by his mother, who was an innately artistic person. Painting and drawing from a formative age, he took a hiatus from art during his schooling years to focus his attention on soccer and martial arts. Post-high school, he took various art courses to learn more about the craft. However, he never pursued formal training until moving from Argentina to Italy, where he began his tenure as an accomplished artist. Rooted in deep-seeded memories of his past, his art has since transformed into a reflection of his life experiences with his family, history as a traveling nomad, and interest in the martial arts.
Mr. Perez relocated to Japan and continued his passion for the martial arts by teaching karate, which later became the inspiration for many of his later paintings. He was subsequently inspired by the Shodo, a Japanese style of art consisting of rice paper, a brush and Chinese ink practiced often by samurais and Buddhist monks. Through this technique, Mr. Perez learned the practice of painting delicate strokes, noting that a primary aspect of the Shodo is to start over if one is unhappy with one stroke he or she has made.
Emphasizing the importance of dark beauty in his artwork, Mr. Perez often draws portraits of romantic encounters with men and women and dancers and draws upon influence from such renowned artists as Lautrec, Picasso, Sargent, and Cezanne, while creating his work as an extension of his own mind and body. For more than 20 years, he has hosted a studio, titled the La Herreria Art Studio, in Los Angeles, California, where he regularly paints in the morning and early afternoon hours.
Since becoming a pronounced artist, Mr. Perez has painted original works that have been purchased by such famous collectors as the past President of Argentina Mauricio Marci, as well as Lionel Messi, Diego Maradona, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ringo Starr, and Pope Francis. He was the official artist to the Latin Grammy Awards’ 10th Anniversary and the Winter Olympics, where he designed a trophy for the American Cup Best Player. He has further donated to auctions to collect money for various Los Angeles institutions, such as the Autism Organization.
Highlighted in more than 120 galleries across the world, including in the United Kingdom, China, Japan, South Africa, and South America, Mr. Perez’s art style reflects passion, emotion, and organic energy, and he was the creator of a new painting movement that he calls “neo-emotionalism.” His paintings are akin to the movements of poetry, dancing, and music, and the emphasis on emotion can be felt strongly through his work.
Married to his wife Lucy for several years, Mr. Perez has three children: Camila, Tiago, and Santino. Living in Los Angeles with his family, he enjoys playing music and watching soccer matches in his spare time. His children also have a musical band called The Perez Band.
