Jan Judith Heyn-Cubacub, Dancer, Instructor, Choreographer, Teacher, and Artist, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the performing arts.
Backed by a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Illinois, Ms. Heyn-Cubacub began her career as the dance captain for the Marriotts Great Americans in Gurnee, Illinois. A gifted performer, she then became the assistant director and a principal dancer with the Joel Hall Dancers. In 1979, she relocated and served as a principal dancer with the Urban Gateways until 1981 once she was hired as an instructor with the Discovery Center in Chicago. By 1984, she decided to start her own company, aptly titled Heyn-Cubacub Originals. Since then, Ms. Heyn-Cubacub has excelled in her role as artist and owner. In 2006, she returned to school and earned a Master’s of Arts in teaching from Chicago Concordia University as a result of her desire to work with children. Making excellent use of her degree, Ms. Heyn-Cubacub additionally works as a dance, drama and visual art enrichment teacher with the Chicago Public Schools.
An active member of her industry, Ms. Heyn-Cubacub maintains affiliation with the Illinois Dance Education Organization and the Illinois Art Education Association. Looking back on her success in the entertainment industry, she attributes her plethora of accomplishments to the support of her parents. Ms. Heyn-Cubacub thanks them for their acceptance and encouragement of her dream in becoming an artist, as she often witnessed the latter from other parents of friends in her field. With this sentiment, Ms. Heyn-Cubacub encourages the aspiring dancers of today to be persistent, curious and capitalize on their passions. She additionally emphasizes the importance of never giving up, as the strength to keep moving forward is the key to success. In light of her myriad achievements, Ms. Heyn-Cubacub is also featured in the first and second editions of Who’s Who in Entertainment.
