Judith Andrews Boss, Author and College Textbook Writer at McGraw-Hill Higher Education and Wild Rose Press, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in writing.
Since writing her first book at the age of nine on her father’s typewriter, Dr. Boss has gone on to exhibit an illustrious career in writing and publishing. Today, she is the author of three medical ethics and logic college textbooks with McGraw-Hill Higher Education, entitled “Ethics for Life 7th Edition,” “Analyzing Moral Issues 7th Edition” and “Think 5th Edition.” She has also authored “Fall From Grace” from 2018 and the award-winning suspense novel “Deception Island” from 2015, along with several short stories and articles. Attributing her success to her innate talent, Dr. Boss also credits the support of her family in each endeavor she pursued. Presently, she maintains affiliation with the Association of Rhode Island Authors, Sisters in Crime, Mystery Writers of America, Authors Guild, American Philosophical Association, MENSA, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, and The Old Antarctica Explorers Association.
A student of philosophy, Dr. Boss earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Australia in 1969 and a Master of Arts from Dalhousie University in 1971. She spearheaded her professional career as a writer and researcher for the Nova Scotia Museum from 1973 to 1979 before entering the world of academia. Between 1984 and 1998, she had excelled as an adjunct faculty member at Roger Williams University, a lecturer at the University of Rhode Island and as an assistant director of curriculum affairs at the Brown University School of Medicine. Notably, in 1990, she obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in social ethics from Boston University. Dr. Boss’ advice to aspiring writers is to never self-publish but rather be patient and work with a real publisher. She also adds to set your goals high, accept feedback from writers groups and see writing as a profession, not a hobby.
