Dr. Schuenke’s parents inspired her to pursue a career in art. With experience in painting and graphic design, her mother and father began educating her on the wonders of art at a young age. She learned how to use oil paints and watercolors, falling in love with her newfound ability to express herself through art. Dr. Schuenke never thought about pursuing a career in any other field, leading her to attend the University of London, where she studied art history. In 1983, she relocated to the University of Cologne, earning a Master’s degree in art history. She proceeded to remain at the aforementioned university until 1986, attaining a Doctor of Philosophy in art history to complete her academic studies.

From 1998 until 2000, Dr. Schuenke served as an adjunct professor of art history at Flagler College. However, her primary position has been as an exhibiting artist at the Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra Beach. She remains in this role today, though her work has been featured in numerous international exhibits as well. Further, she is the co-author of “Echo of the Unconscious in Painting – A Case Study,” which was published by A.R.T.E. Press LLC in 2019. Likewise, Dr. Schuenke has illustrated several children’s books. In the future, she hopes to become better-known in her field. She would also like to bring awareness to the importance of the psyche. As a testament to her professional success, Dr. Schuenke was a finalist for the Royal Palm Award presented by the Florida Writer Association in 2020.
