Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States
D.L. Jennings, Noted Author and Writer, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in writing.
Mr. Jennings is a 14-year active duty veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving under the Air Force Special Operations Command. Hailing from a family of veterans, he felt a call to service following the terror attack on September 11, 2001, and worked with his family to commence his enlisting process. Today, he has completed 13 deployments and has been the recipient of numerous accolades, including a Joint Service Achievement Medal, Joint Service Accommodation Medal, Korean Consul General Award and 17 Air Medals. Mr. Jennings recalls accepting these honors as the highlight of his career.
Alongside his military service, Mr. Jennings is also a noted author and writer, having first discovered his talent while sharing pieces of writing with a pen pal. Now the author of the HIGHGLADE Series, he finished writing his debut novel, “Gift of the Shaper” while serving overseas on his ninth combat tour in 2018, for which he was the recipient of the Beverly Hills Book Award. In 2020, he published its sequel, “Awaken the Three” and was a finalist for the Next Generation Indie Book Award, as well as awarded the NYC Big Book Award for Distinguished Favorite in Fantasy.
Matriculating at Bellevue University, Mr. Jennings earned an Associate of Arts in Korean studies in 2005 and a Bachelor of Science in 2008. He attributes his success to his mother, who continues to be an avid reader of J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis. She would read “The Magicians Nephew” to the young Mr. Jennings starting at the age of seven, opening his mind to the genre of fantasy and mythology. From this upbringing, he desires to leave a lasting impression in literature, as he is currently working on a third novel and a screenplay for “Gift of the Shaper.” When Mr. Jennings is not reading or writing epic fantasy, he enjoys traveling, listening to ’90s punk and watching Ohio State football.
