Shawn W. Quirk, Programming Director at Flickers: Rhode Island International Film Festival, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in film exhibiting.

During high school, Mr. Quirk took a course in film, which solidified his desire to enter the filmmaking industry. In 2009, he received a Bachelor of Science in film and television production from Boston University, and after accruing several years in the field, attended the Lesley College of Art and Design, where he received a Master of Fine Arts in the visual arts in 2018. At the inception of his career, Mr. Quirk served as an English teacher for Education Nationale from 2009 to 2011, where he taught English as a second language to French middle and high school students in Givet, France. Subsequently, he served as a film instructor at the New York Film Academy in Harvard, Massachusetts.

Since 2011, Mr. Quirk has excelled as a programming director for Flickers: Rhode Island International Film Festival in Providence, Rhode Island. In his position, he has served as the lead programmer in which his responsibilities include the organization of juries, film programming, film exhibitions and retrospectives during the festival and throughout the year. He has also organized the festival’s annual KidsEye Summer Filmmaking Camp and Youth Jury, as well as the organization’s year-round film education outreach initiatives and fundraising events. Previously, he was a guest lecturer at Harvard University, Dartmouth College, Providence College and the Rhode Island School of Design.

Mr. Quirk is a member of the New England chapter of the Emmy’s, and in his spare time, he enjoys playing the saxophone and skiing. He is fluent in both English and French. Looking forward, he intends to build up the film culture in the United States and witness the continued success of his career.
