Claire Marcus, an independent artist, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of watercolor painting.
With more than two decades of experience in creative pursuits, Ms. Marcus has garnered a laudable reputation as an artist of watercolor paintings, acrylic, monotype printmaking and clay sculpting. Active in her profession as an independent artist, she previously served as a commercial artist on behalf of an advertising agency based in Boston, and has maintained involvement as a photographic assistant and as a teacher of design and advanced clay sculpting at the Pottery Shed for the Ceramic League of the Palm Beaches, Florida. Ms. MArcus has also taught printmaking at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. She is a member of the Fresh Paint Gallery in Yarmouth, Massachusetts.
A prolific artist, Ms. Marcus’ work has featured in exhibitions throughout the region of New England and the state of Florida, having appeared in showings at the Cape Cod Conservatory, the Northwest Print Council Traveling Show and the Printmakers of Cape Cod Past and Present, as well as in many private collections. Furthermore, she is a Signature Member of the New England Watercolor Society and Master Artist and serves on the board of the Cape Cod Art Center. To commemorate her accomplishments, Ms. Marcus has accrued numerous accolades, including a People’s Choice Award in 2013 and 2019, and numerous first and second place awards throughout several watercolor competitions, as well as several honorable mentions.
Ms. Marcus was inspired to become involved in her profession due to the influence of her mother, who earned distinction as an artist. Her exemplary performance in the field was born of her academic journey, during which time she undertook coursework at the Vesper George School of Art from 1962 until 1963, as well as the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston between 1967 and 1979. Likewise, Ms. Marcus attended the DeCordova Museum in Lincoln, Massachusetts, and the Lighthouse Gallery of Art in Tequesta, Florida.
