David E. Garrison, Master Artist at Garrison Art Studios, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in American fine art.
With over 50 years of experience as a professional artist to his credit, Mr. Garrison has fostered a love for art since experimenting with colors in kindergarten. He carried his passion with him to his studies at the American Academy of Arts, where he learned from such renowned artists as Bill Parks and Irving Shapiro. Mr. Garrison later obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Iowa Wesleyan College in 1987.
After the conclusion of his studies, Mr. Garrison relocated to France to advance his career in a more worldly setting. In addition to exhibiting his work in Paris each year, he has displayed his creations on three continents. Furthermore, Mr. Garrison’s paintings have appeared in galleries and private collections throughout North America, Europe, Russia and China.
Mr. Garrison is proud to have developed and taught a six-month artist development series for students hoping to create harmony in color. In addition, he has contributed his expertise as a teacher of pastel workshops with the Pastel Society of America and as a consultant with the Youth Iowa Arts Council. Driven to remain aware of developments in the field, Mr. Garrison has maintained his affiliation with the American Artists Professional League, the National Society of Mural Painters, the American Impressionist Society, Mural Painters Inc., the Pastel Society of America and Oil Painters of America.
For his various accomplishments, Mr. Garrison is honored to have been recognized as a Master of Light by the Societe’ de Pastellistes de France in 1998. Likewise, he was presented with the 18th Salon de Peinture-Lead Cristal Award in France in 2017, the Andrew Marlo Award in 2019 and the Pastel Society of Iowa Award of Excellence in 2020. Above all, Mr. Garrison is gratified that his students attribute their success to his teachings and mentorship.
