Barbara Dabrowski, retired art teacher at Utica Community Schools, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in art education.
In her youth, Ms. Dabrowski developed a passion for drawing and painting, citing her father’s influence as an architect as an inspiration for her creative exploration. She recalls that had the war not happened and not have become an orphan, she probably would have also been an architect, but instead found her own path. In her artistic endeavors, Ms. Dabrowski designed and created jewelry for 15 years, having won Best of Show for her jewelry on multiple occasions. She also excelled as a draftsman for Square D Company from 1952 to 1962.
Backed by a college degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, Ms. Dabrowski utilized her education in taking on a career as an art educator. Dedicated to exposing young people to all kinds of art and creative mediums, she flourished as an art teacher with the Utica Community Schools in Macomb County, Michigan until commencing her retirement. Reflecting on her career thus far, Ms. Dabrowski attributes her success to a devotion to art, as well as hard work and perseverance. She is most proud to have had some of her former students pursue art in their professional lives. Having always wanted to simply live and contribute, she continues to enjoy a well-deserved retirement. Ms. Dabrowski is the proud mother of Christine and grandmother to Natasha.
