Melisa Skinner

Title: Nomenclature specialist & Photographer
Company: Bombardier Learjet; Melisa Skinner Photography
Location: Wichita, Kansas, United States

Melisa A. Skinner, nomenclature specialist at Bombardier Learjet and photographer at Melisa Skinner Photography, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the aerospace industry and photographic arts.

Ms. Skinner is the photographer, travel writer, and digital artist behind Melisa Skinner Photography. Her passion for the arts began in childhood: Ms. Skinner remembers having toy cameras and photo albums of her own since she was a toddler, and her parents encouraged her talent by giving her a camera on a family trip to Belgium when she was ten. Though talented and interested in photography, Ms. Skinner chose to pursue a more technical career, becoming a certified draftsperson and AutoCAD technician at Wichita Area Technical College in 1990.

Both of her parents had spent decades working for Learjet and helped a young Ms. Skinner secure her first job in the aerospace industry by passing her resume along to company management. She was hired as a Senior Nomenclature Specialist by Bombardier Aerospace Learjet in 1995 and thrived in the position, which she continues to hold after more than 23 years. Ms. Skinner continued to broaden her professional skills, taking business and drafting classes offered by Bombardier Aerospace Learjet as well as becoming a Certified Medical Claims and Billing Specialist through remote learning.

Since establishing Melisa Skinner Photography, Ms. Skinner has taken numerous photography classes and workshops, graduating from City Arts Wichita in 2018 and pursuing additional training in portraiture, lighting for photographers, and Photoshop and Lightroom skills. She has recently completed a three-year project to photograph all of Kansas’ 105 counties while maintaining a travel blog and has been hired as a food photographer for Ocus and a designer for Mailbox Power, among other contracts. Ms. Skinner looks forward to pursuing professional photography full-time once she retires from the aerospace industry, with dreams of opening a gallery or studio eventually. When she is not focused on her work, Ms. Skinner enjoys supporting animal welfare charities and time spent with her family.
