Nick Cann, Freelance Illustrator and Art Instructor, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in graphic design.

A fifth-generation California native, Mr. Cann is renowned for his drawings within the categories of fantasy, architectural confections and abstract portrayals. Harboring a passion for art from a young age, he studied at San José University, Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris and the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles. Though his parents encouraged him to become an architect, he was enamored with the drawing aspect of the profession. As a result, he began his career as a set illustrator for M.G.M Studios in 1964 before establishing himself as a freelance graphic designer in Los Angeles for nearly 30 years thereafter. Currently celebrating nearly 60 years in the industry, he continues to create one-of-a-kind pieces for his clients.

Throughout his career, Mr. Cann has created a multitude of television set designs, film credit designs, album covers and corporate logos. Moreover, his murals have been commissioned by hotels, airports, department stores and restaurants across the United States. He is honored to have worked with numerous different personalities and celebrities, including Diana Ross, David Snyder of Blade Runner and Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead. Additionally, he wrote diaries for “The Last Samurai.” Some of his most recognizable pieces of art have included intricately designed sketches of shoes, architectural landmarks, divine figures and circus characters.

Over the course of his career, Mr. Cann has maintained professional affiliations with the Arts Council of Napa Valley and the Napa Valley Art Association. Furthermore, he contributes to Artisan Territory, an online gallery and artist representative. He is proud to have received an invitation to the opening of London Bridge in Lake Havasu City, Arizona in 1971. As an instructor, he is gratified to have taught many generations of students, including one student who went on to secure a job with Disney. Looking toward the future, he aims to continue to operate his home studio in Napa, California where he welcomes commissions for calligraphy, wedding invitations and posters.
