Ric Conn, an artist, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of oil painting.
Mr. Conn has been an artist for more than four decades and has been the owner of Ric Conn Studios garnered since 2005. Before leaving to focus on his fine arts career, he was a graphic arts professional for the Anne Arundel and Prince George’s County governments of Maryland from 1973 until 2005. Working in in oil, acrylic, charcoal, ink and mixed media, Mr. Conn’s expressive work is interested in representing the strength, beauty, and struggles of women.
Inspired by a desire to represent his subjects’ stories, Mr. Conn hopes his work is a vehicle for change and compassion for the cultural challenges that women face. While his early work focused on mental health, he refocused his content after recognizing how common discrimination and crimes against women remained. Mr. Conn’s works explore the boundaries between reality and perception through an expressionist lens.
Mr. Conn’s work has been featured at a variety of venues and settings, including at the MADS Gallery in Milan, Italy, in 2021, the City Hall of Annapolis, Maryland, in 2016, the Queen Anne’s County Arts Council in Centreville, Maryland, in 2014, the Circle Gallery of Annapolis, and the Agora Gallery of New York City in 2011. He has also been spotlighted in such publications as Art Tour International Magazine, which deemed him their Artist of the Year in 2019 and the Artist of the Decade for the years of 2010 to 2020. Additional accolades for Mr. Conn’s credit include the Best Artist in Stevensville Award in 2019, the Curator Visionary Art Award and the Collector’s Vision International Art Award.
Mr. Conn completed an associate’s degree in multimedia studies at Anne Arundel Community College in 1975 and has pursued additional study at the Maryland Institute College of Art. To remain aware of developments in the field, Mr. Conn is active in the Maryland Federation of Art and the Kent Island Federation of Art, serving as president of the board of directors between 2007 and 2008.
