Joanne Hennes, Artist at Hennes Gallery, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in painting.
Renowned for her skill and expression, Ms. Hennes has exhibited a distinguished five-decade-long career as an artist fueled by her muse, the Grand Tetons. Since 1971, she has excelled as the owner and artist of Hennes Gallery in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where she showcases various works including oil paintings, watercolors, lithographs and giclée’s on canvas. Ms. Hennes’ artistic career blossomed while on a trip to the Swiss Alps in 1955, recalling when she saw the Matterhorn in sunrise, she wanted to paint it in oil. She has since gone on to paint around the world, including in New Zealand, Thailand, Egypt, Turkey and throughout Europe and the Middle East, capturing the beauty of the Earth in its various forms.
Reflecting on her artistic career, Ms. Hennes recalls a notable achievement was being the only female artist in the group for the unveiling of a new wing of the Buffalo Bill Historical Center in 1969. She is also proud of a painting she created of Princess Grace and President Bush Sr., a set of 37 wildflower watercolors adorning the cabins of Jenny Lake Lodge north of Jackson and an oil painting of Lake Solitude for the Moose Visitor Center in Grand Teton National Park. Most notably, her largest work was an 8 foot by 12-foot painting on stretch canvas of Puuwaawaa Ranch in Kona, Hawaii. Ms. Hennes studied professionally in Illinois, where she was born, as well as in Paris, France.
