Dr. Gracie Bell Kearse-McCastler is a retired educator, author, community worker and minister determined to helping build up the community, advocating for the elderly, youth and in educational, political and economic issues. For 33 years, she excelled as a K-12 schoolteacher with the Duval County Public Schools in Florida, where she also served as an assistant principal for six months. In addition, Dr. McCastler accepted Teacher of the Year Awards in 1998, 2003, 2009 and 2010.

Since her retirement as a schoolteacher, Dr. Kearse-McCastler has been a prolific author, publishing “Reconnecting with the Forgotten Fruit: A Daily Scriptural Guide to Enhance Your Walk with God,” “Transforming Truancy: Exploring Factors and Strategies that Impact Truancy Among Youth,” “Lead by Example” and “Transforming into an Effective Leader.” In addition, she received an award for her poem “All Lives Matter.” In 2019, Dr. Kearse-McCastler was inducted to the Scientific National Honor Society at the Fischler College of Education at Nova Southeastern University.

After earning a bachelor’s degree in elementary and primary education from the University of West Florida in 1989, Dr. Kearse-McCastler obtained a Master of Science in education the same year and later continued her education in 2019 with a Doctor of Education in instructional leadership and administration from the Fischler College of Education at Nova Southeastern University.

Dr. Kearse-McCastler became an author because it has always been her aspiration to write children’s books and Christian literature, and her civic and religious involvement stems from sensing her calling to be a minister and servant early in her life. As far as her professional life is concerned, she takes much pride in garnering a doctorate in education. As an author, Dr. Kearse-McCastler considers becoming a four-time published author as an important achievement and is in the process of completing her fifth book.
