Thomas Lockhart, Owner at New Life Design, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in producing original artworks.
Hailing from Denver, Mr. Lockhart was inspired to become an artist by his cousin. When he was a child, he used to see her artworks and they became his first inspiration. In high school, his teachers saw his special talent and love for painting. After coursework at Al Collins Graphic Design School in Tempe, Arizona, Mr. Lockhart initially pursued commercial art, graphic design and drafting architecture, but in 2000 he began to create original paintings of his own for Golden Art Galleries in Colorado. His eclectic artistic influences include Salvador Dalí, Thomas Kinkade, Paul Goodnight, George Hunt and Zoaming Wu. Mr. Lockhart works in many different mediums, including acrylic, oil, and watercolors on paper, canvas, and wood, and found objects such as coins, plastic flowers, jewels, and other textural elements can be found in his work, which he describes of a mix of realism and Cubism.
After supporting himself from 2007 to 2017 as a bail bondsman and a Colorado state corrections officer, Mr. Lockhart made the leap to full time artist the latter year. Gradually, his art began to attract notice and he was commissioned to produce an artwork for Tyler Perry, the famed actor, director, producer, and screenwriter on the occasion of his 50th birthday in 2019. Subsequently, Mr. Lockhart was commissioned to create art for the 5 Points Business District as well as display his work in colleges and museums including Center of Cosmetic Dentistry in Aurora, Colorado, the Stafford Mansion in Washington, Chesapeake Bay General Hospital in Virginia. His pieces have been shown in Overdue Recognition Gallery, Massachusetts; Greenwood Gallery in Tulsa, Oklahoma; Cottonwood Center of the Arts in Colorado; the Denver Seminary College Campus Gallery; and Children’s Hospital, Anschutz Campus, in Colorado.
