Duane L. Herrmann, Author, Historian, Poet and Memoirist, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in literature.
Mr. Herrmann graduated from Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas in 1975 with a Bachelor of Arts in education. He returned to Fort Hays State University to obtain a bachelor’s degree in history in 1984. He has been published in more than 50 anthologies and 100 media outlets around the world and is the author of several short stories, poetry collections and novels, with titles dating back to 1975. In 2007, he was honored with the Ferguson Kansas History Book Award.
Mr. Herrmann is an expert in the Baha’i faith in Kansas, an extremely rare specialty. An active member of the community, he serves as a board member and former president of Interfaith of Topeka and the Topeka Center for Peace and Justice. Mr. Herrmann is additionally active as a member of the Kansas Authors Club and plans to continue publishing future written works.
Mr. Herrmann’s inspiration to write came from his mother, who would become absorbed in reading the newspaper on a daily basis. His early childhood continues to inspire his writing, as he draws on the imagery and memories of rural living in his works about farm and prairie life. Notably, he attributes his success to his perseverance.
