Maia Amberstone, Instructor at Intelmusic, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in piano composition and instruction.
Since 2004, Ms. Amberstone has prospered as co-founder of and instructor with Intelmusic, a premier piano teaching instruction service in San Diego, in which she parlays over three decades of experience as a performer, composer and clinician employing pedagogy, ear training, and music expression. She is also an accomplished composer for piano. Ms. Amberstone has been responsible for educating hundreds of students of all age ranges and skill levels over the years through her academy, which notably hosts two annual concerts to highlight their progression.
To prepare for her career, Ms. Amberstone obtained a bachelor’s degree in concert piano performance. She spent several years as a piano instructor at the Secondary School of Music and Higher Institute of Music Education in her native country of Bulgaria from 1982 to 1987 and subsequently found success as a piano teacher with the Children’s Creative and Performing Arts Academy in San Diego from 1992 to 1994 and a piano instructor for leading manufacturer Yamaha Corporation of America from 1994 to 2000.
Ms. Amberstone attributes her success to being a very simple and open person who loves her profession, and her passion shines through to her students, which makes every class with her not only enjoyable, but also productive. became involved in her profession because she wanted to create a neuroscience-based teaching system that facilitated the learning of music in her students. She began conceptualizing the idea in 1994 while working as a piano instructor at the Children’s Creative and Performing Arts Academy. Her business partner and co-founder, Marcelo Amuchastegui, helped her develop the psychological aspects of the system.
As a career highlight, Ms. Amberstone mentions establishing the first and only innovative system in the country for making piano performing accessible to anyone interested in music. She is very proud to have created an effective method for people, children and adults alike, to learn how to play the instrument easily and achieve their piano learning goals much faster than they would if they followed the traditional teaching approach. In the coming years, Ms. Amberstone intends to introduce her brand of music and educational approach to the world before she retires.
