Title: Artist & Art Teacher
Company: Nora Faber Gallery
Location: Grand Rapids, Michigan, United States

Nora Faber Overvoorde, Artist and Art Teacher at Nora Faber Gallery, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in art production and instruction.

Having obtained a bachelor’s degree in art education and psychology in 1998 from Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Ms. Overvoorde excelled as an art teacher for grades K through 8 for 17 years and program director for Kendall College, the Cook Arts Center and a number of Christian, public and charter Schools between 1998 and 2009.

Since 2015, Ms. Faber Overvoorde has distributed her art and taught art students from the Nora Faber Gallery in Grand Rapids. Stylistically, her art is produced by applying acrylic mixes, matte medium, salt and sand to provide a texture of foundation to a clay board and etches the clay and adds or removes paint to create depth. Thematically, she strives to express thoughts and prayers, Bible passages, and natural subjects such as her plant series in which she adds natural objects and actual plants to create a surrealistic rendering. Ms. Faber Overvoorde recently shared the story of her artistic journey and life in Voyage Michigan.

Ms. Faber Overvoorde became involved in her profession because of her passion for the art, but what really inspired her to start her gallery was when she suffered from postpartum depression after giving birth to her second child in 2010. To combat it, she started painting with her son at home. Ms. Faber Overvoorde takes pride in the fact that she won three times in a live painting contest called Art Battle for Creston. In 2015, she also received the Art Prize award, which was the Best of Calvin Alumni, where she also won a sum of money at that point. However, what she really considers as her most shining achievement is having a sense that she can hear what God wants her to do. There are times when she feels the need to paint a painting for someone else, which becomes a prayer. In the coming years, Ms. Faber Overvoorde would like people to be able to walk through her paintings digitally.
