After obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in drama and mathematics from the University of Texas at El Paso, Mr. Thomas embarked on a successful acting career on stage, screen and television in 1986. He has appeared in more than 50 feature films and television shows that include appearances on “The Cosby Show,” “NYPD Blue,” “Homicide: Life on the Street,” “Law & Order,” “The Sopranos,” “Blue Bloods” and “New Amsterdam.”
On stage, as a member of the Atlantic Theater Company, Mr. Thomas has appeared in such productions as “Human Error,” “The Beginning of August,” “The Lights,” “Edmond” and “Distant Fires,” and on Broadway with David Mamet’s “Race” and “The Crucible.” As a career highlight, he cites his appearance in “American Buffalo,” in which he has been an understudy for Lawrence Fishburne, and he is extremely proud of being in the final August Wilson play to open on Broadway, “Jitney.”
In the coming years, Mr. Thomas sees himself enjoying his retirement. He has had a long career, something he is very thankful for because he initially thought it would only last for a couple of years. He was blessed to have increased work as the years went by.
