Phillip Sage, Artist, Printmaker and Graphic Designer at Rivendell Studio, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in printmaking and etching.
Originally hailing from Manchester, New Hampshire, Mr. Sage obtained a Bachelor of Arts in economics and business administration from St. Anselm College in Goffstown, New Hampshire and subsequently earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York, where he studied printmaking under his mentor Charles Klabunde and photography under Michael A. Vaccaro. During his service as an officer in the United States Coast Guard stationed in New Orleans, he greatly admired the Gulf Coast and southern living, and since 1971 Louisiana has been his home base.
Of the over 400 artistic prints he has rendered during his career thus far, around 300 have depicted current and historic New Orleans and its environs. Mr. Sage employs copper plates for high-quality art print etching and completes all of his work using an antique English press, which adds to the quality and vitality of his pieces. Moreover, he uses only the finest paper to ensure high-end collection pieces. Producing his artwork from his own Rivendell Studio in Folsom, Louisiana, Mr. Sage distributes his work through his website phillipsage.com and welcomes in-person customers. In addition, he teaches quality printmaking at St. Joseph Abbey in Covington, Louisiana. Besides his printmaking career, Mr. Sage is an avid equestrian and polo player. He donates his artwork for many charitable causes and participates in group exhibitions and solo shows and is represented in numerous galleries in the South. Mr. Sage intends to keep working as long as he is physically able.
