Hyun-Mi Chung, pianist at Elite Piano Academy, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in piano performance.
Born in Korea, Ms. Chung began her piano lessons at the age of four and was awarded distinguished prizes that included first prize in the Honam, Pullma, Pung Moon, and the Competition for Young Pianists. As a young pianist, she was selected to make her first recording when she was 12 years old. In 1975, she came to the United States to enter the Juilliard School’s preparatory division, where she gave two recitals in 1977 and 1978. Ms. Chung continued her studies with Juilliard and earned a Bachelor of Music in 1982 and a Master of Music in 1983.
Ms. Chung has excelled in concert appearances worldwide, including solo shows in Paris and Nice, France; Russia; Carnegie Hall in New York; and concertos with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra at Sejong Cultural Center, the National Orchestra at Seoul National Theatre. In addition, she has produced several well-received recordings of classical music that include the compositions of Beethoven, Schumann, Liszt, Brahms, Schubert and many more, and is most proud of being the first woman pianist to record all of Beethoven’s 35 piano sonatas. Looking toward the future, Ms. Chung intends to continue to share her love of performing in concert before adoring audiences, and to impart her knowledge as music director at Elite Piano Academy.
