He additionally has excelled for seven years as an instructor at the Vermont College of Fine Arts. Previously, he enjoyed a long and successful teaching tenure at the School of Visual Arts. Earlier in his career, he taught at New York University.
Mr. Negroponte holds an impressive academic and professional background, including a master’s degree in architecture from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the same institution. His long list of accolades features an Emmy Award nomination in 2006 for the movie “Methadonia,” a Best Documentary Feature Award at the Santa Barbara Film Festival and a Grand Jury Prize nomination at the Sundance Film Festival for “Jupiter’s Wife” in 1995, and a Cinéma du Réel Award in 1984.
An expert in the area of cinematography and film editing, Mr. Negroponte’s films have been broadcast in the United States on HBO, Amazon, Netflix, PBS and the Sundance Channel, as well as in England, France, Germany, Spain and Japan. In addition to creating his own movies, he has worked on a number of other projects for HBO, PBS and the BBC, among other television outlets. Inspired by his father’s admiration for movies, he attributes his success to his dedication to the arts and his passion for telling personal and revealing stories.
