Hailing from more than five decades of experience in his chosen field, Mr. Shulson has earned distinction as a writer and correspondent for Virginia Media, a digital advertising company under whose aegis he has contributed to such publications as the Virginian Pilot, Inside Business, the Daily Press and the Virginia Gazette as an arts critic and entertainment reporter. Lauded for his deep and abiding passion for the performing arts, Mr. Shulson harnesses a honed talent for the written word in delivering an evocative account of local events to his readership. In addition to his endeavors in print media, he has also served in the field of radio broadcasting, as a lecturer for regional associations and students, and worked in theater as a public relations director and actor, among many other roles to his credit.
Outside of his work as a journalist, Mr. Shulson served for over 35 years on behalf of the U.S. Army in public relations, during which time he was proud to participate in research regarding new developments in new technology – particularly relating to distance learning – and how it might exert an impact on the military in the future. This work permitted him to live and work in Washington, D.C., in proximity to the Pentagon, where he worked with the Joint Chiefs of Staff between 1989 and 1990. For this, and other such accomplishments, Mr. Shulson was bestowed with various awards that recognized his service as a civilian, as well as several accolades for his work in media.
