Keith Donaldson, Owner and Artist at Silhouettes in a Snap, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in silhouette art.
An accomplished silhouette and paper cut-out artist, Mr. Donaldson currently excels as the owner and artist at Silhouettes in a Snap. Prior to this endeavor, he found success as a tenured artist for Walt Disney’s Magic Kingdom for more than 15 years, from 2003 to 2020. With decades of experience in the arts and handicrafts business, Mr. Donaldson prepared for his career by studying in a bible college for three years, where he took multiple courses in the arts.
Prior to his current position, Mr. Donaldson worked in counseling and corrections. From 1997 to 2001, he was a corrections officer at Polk County Prison, and he previously worked in emergency room security. Mr. Donaldson felt burnt out in his career, and when he heard that Disney World was seeking artists, he decided to apply. After becoming a tenured artist, he began winning awards for his artwork, including a Mayor’s Award in North Carolina in 2005.
Mr. Donaldson feels art is his calling. While serving Disney as a tenured artist, he began conducting traveling art shows. Among his friends and patrons, Mr. Donaldson considers his mother, Barbara, as his best friend and greatest critic.
Silhouette art has existed since the late 1700s, and Mr. Donaldson is one of the last remaining artists preserving the art form. He advises aspiring professionals to do what they love and persist until they find success. In the coming years, Mr. Donaldson hopes to continue his current endeavors while helping aspiring artists along the way.
