Douglas Tejada, music instructor at Fayetteville Technical Community College, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of music academia.
With more than two decades of experience to his credit, Dr. Tejada is a proven leader in the field of education. Well-versed in the musical arts and as a bass player, he has served as a music instructor at the Fayetteville Technical Community College since 2019. Prior to his current appointment, he was an assistant professor for music business at Tarleton State University from 2016 to 2019. At the onset of his career, he was a supervisor for the Reserve Generation Commercial Music Ensemble for the Band of the United States Air Force Reserve from 2004 to 2013. Dr. Tejada continued supervising the Mobility Rock Band, as part of the Air Force Band of the Golden West, from 2013 to 2016.
As part of his dedication to his profession, Dr. Tejada remains affiliated with The College Music Society, the Jazz Education Network and the International Society of Bassists. Furthermore, he pursued a formal education, ultimately achieving a doctoral degree in musical arts for jazz performance at the University of Miami in 2004. He also holds a master’s degree in music performance from Wichita State University. In his other creative endeavors, Dr. Tejada directed the Latin band El Gran Combo, featuring the legendary Salsa artist Jerry Rivas. Attributing his success to his understanding of his craft and audience, he is particularly proud to have participated in numerous international tours throughout his career.
