Frederico Laboureau, owner of FLatelier, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in production design.
As a young man in his native Argentina, Mr. Laboureau had a penchant for visual arts, creating in such media as papier mâché, painting, and ceramics. Per the wishes of his parents, he completed four years of computer engineering coursework, but realized it was not for him. Instead, he enrolled in the University of Palermo and graduated with a degree in clothing and textile design in 2008.
Feeling limited by the constraints of the fashion industry, Mr. Laboureau made the transition to production design and art direction, and founded his company, FLatelier. This opened a new world of creative opportunities, as he began working with clients in a wide variety of environments, including photo shoots, television, catalog production, and live theater. From 2010 to 2015, he was active as a production designer and fashion producer for “Project Runway Latin America.” In 2014, Mr. Laboureau was recruited as an art director and fashion consultant on “Mexico’s Next Top Model.” He likewise served as creative director for the Haute Fashion Institute from 2014 to 2016 as well as from 2020 to 2022.
Among his most recent projects, Mr. Laboureau worked on a groundbreaking cooking show for Amazon. As production designer, he notably created a set inspired by children’s author Dr. Seuss. On another Amazon production, he oversaw the production of a dog travelogue program. Mr. Laboureau also contributed his talents to a show for Hulu called “Exposure.”
Mr. Laboreau attributes his success to the support of the many talented individuals with whom he has worked. He is particularly thankful to colleagues who helped him overcome the language barrier after he moved to the United States. As a recently naturalized U.S. citizen, Mr. Laboureau is grateful for the opportunities and inspiration he has found in his adopted home.
