Company: Imoya by Stanley
Location: Hempstead, New York, United States

Stanley L. Covington, Jr., founder and chief executive officer at Imoya by Stanley has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in fashion design.

Mr. Covington is a self-trained artist and fashion designer. Beginning his career as a graphic artist and painter, he was inspired to design and create avant-garde fashion garments largely through the influence of the female members of his family. His late mother, who he describes as “an exquisite dresser,” encouraged him to devote his time to his passion and develop a working fashion portfolio. The name of his company, Imoya, is an acronym for “In Memory of You Always,” in honor of his mother and sister, who have passed away.

One of the most significant factors contributing to Mr. Covington’s success is his passion and talent for physical art. He endeavors to apply much of his knowledge and appreciation of graphic art to the clothing that he designs and markets. Mr. Covington encompasses his style as a mélange of vintage Hollywood with modern chic. He strives to keep his designs simple yet classic, utilizing different fabrics, textures, and geometric shapes to create the mood and tone of each garment.

A member of the Long Island Black Artists Association, Mr. Covington also markets his original sports-themed paintings in addition to his fashion designs. In the future, he plans to expand his design house, market his creations to a much larger audience, and participate in a wider variety of runway events. His long-term goal is to develop the Imoya brand into an international fashion phenomenon.
